Enclosed you will find a copy of The PEAdvocate, the official newsletter of the Phillipsburg Education Association. This particular issue of The PEAdvocate reported the school budget election results of April 16 of this school year. This year, for the first time, the PEA attempted to contact by phone every NJEA member who has a Phillipsburg mailing address. There are over 400 such NJEA members living within the Phillipsburg area. You probably received a phone call from a PEA member over the weekend of April 13-14 asking you to get out and vote for your local school budget. We assisted in the passage of the Phillipsburg, Harmony & Alpha budgets. However we came up 29 votes short in passing the Lopatcong & Pohatcong budgets. (In Lopatcong the budget was defeated by 4 votes.) Next year we hope to be more active politically in passing school budgets. We are asking your assistance. Below is the information in the PEA database that we received from the NJEA about you. The phone #s and local school district we obtained on our own. If any of the information is missing or incorrect, I am asking you to provide the correct information to me so that I may update the voting database for future uses.
